These correlations include depression, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic pain, coronary artery disease, endometriosis, and migraine. Dr. Brittany Mitchell, Team Head of the Complex Trait Genomics group at QIMR Berghofer, notes that these findings underscore the intricate connection between mental and physical health.
While the study provides valuable insights, it also raises important questions. The correlations identified do not establish causation or the direction of effect.
